The 23rd Johor State Chinese Calligraphy Competition (Year of Geng Zi)

  1. Organisers : Johor Calligraphy Association in collaboration with Sin Chew Daily and
    Persatuan Guru-Guru Sekolah Cina Johor Selatan
  2. Supporting Officials : The Johor State Information Bureau
  3.  Venue Sponsor : Sutera Mall Johor Bahru
  4. Objectives : To promote folk culture and the jollification of the Chinese New Year festivities
  5.  Eligibilities :
    1. Open to any members public who are interested in Chinese Calligraphy
    2. Each Applicant can only be registered in one Category.
    3. Applicant in the Student Categories must be enrolled through his/her school
      or educational institution
  6.  Event : Spring Festival Couplet Writing Competition
    1. Any script style is acceptable
    2. Word paradigms for each Category will be announced on the day of Competition
  7.  Categories:
    Group A. Open (13 years old and above) Seven Words Scroll
    Student Categories:-
    Group B. Senior Secondary School (Form 4 – Form 6 / Pre-U) Six Words Scroll
    Group C. Junior Secondary School (Peralihan – Form 3) Six Words Scroll
    Group D. Junior Primary School (Primary 1 – Primary 2) Four Words Scroll
    Group E. Middle Primary School (Primary 3 – Primary 4) Four Words Scroll
    Group F. Senior Primary School (Primary 5 – Primary 6) Five Words Scroll
    Group G. Non-Chinese Four Words Scroll
  8. Competition:
    Venue : Sutera Mall Johor Bahru, 4th Floor (the hall in front of My Library)
    Date : 22 Feb 2020
    Time
    – Registration : 1.00p.m.
    – Competition Begins : 2.00p.m.
    – Competition Ends : 3.00p.m.
    – Award Ceremony : 4.30p.m.
  9. Others:
    1. Registration is open from 10 January 2020 until 10 February 2020. Registrations on the
      day of Competition are also acceptable.
    2. No registration fee is charged.
    3. Participant will need to bring his/her own brush, ink and practising materials.
      Organisers will supply writing sheets.
    4. Each Participant can only submit one Entry.

  10.  Judges:
    1. Judges consist of local and foreign renowned calligraphers.
    2. The results will be announced on the same day of the Competition.
    3. The decision of the Judges will be final.
    1. Entries submitted shall be the property of the Organisers.
    2. The Organisers will provide two (2) sheets of red couplets paper for each Participant.
    3. The Organisers reserve the rights to cancel or extend the Competition due to any
      unforeseen circumstances.
